Landed off the runway at Presque Isle, Maine in bad weather on the second landing attempt. Minor injuries. Kinda surprised they didn’t divert to Fredericton or Bangor, since those are both much larger airports with better facilities (PQI only serves around 10,000 passengers a year).

So are you saying that they missed the runway, or departed the runway after touching down?

Any landing you walk away from...

I don’t think that’s where the landing gear is supposed to be.

I’m no aircraft engineer, but I don’t think that landing gear should be hugging that nacelle like that.

I LOL’ed when I noticed the landing gear. My first thought was that they forgot to lower the gear. Clearly they remembered that.

Things got a little slippery on touchdown.
The plane left Newark, New Jersey and landed in Presque Isle around 11:30 Monday morning.
The plane touched down then slid to the right.

Kinda sounds like they veered off, but we’ll see.
Glad that it sounds like only minor injuries.

For a moment this looked like a bigger Lockheed Jetstar to me, and then I realized what my brain had taken for a mangled second intake was actually the landing gear (which does not go there!). Anyway, I guess it could have been much worse.

Are the...wheels in the engine?

It’s not a jet
engine, it’s an innovative brake cooling device.

Hearing veered off, apparently landed on runway, but departed the runway
on the roll out.

Jetstars are awesome.
4 engines FTW!!

I feel like we should play Oppo Guess the Estimate with this one.
Is it totaled?

Considering you cannot get any lower than United Express, these pilots will be lucky to fly cargo for the rest of their career
.

I don’t know, if the air frame is compromised it is probably
totaled, I think the ERJ 145
runs
about $15
m new but they are all around 5-15 years old now.

Ha yes, it is definitely an achievement
unlocked for those lawn dart
drivers. A
t least they were artistic with the huge skid mark on the fuselage from the still spinning tire.

Lower fuselage fairings, if the gear failed at the fuse pins then likely fittings, pins, gear, flaps, nose gear is probably gone as well, engine and fan cowls, three fuselage frames and maybe 5 stringers and some skin. Toss in a couple of windows. I’m going to guess $850k.

Hahaha, I was joking, but I guess it’s on like Donkey Kong.
I think this thing is repairable, there looks to be a fair bit of damage to the nose though, so I’m guessing like $1.2M?
My money’s on this thing flying for another decade in any case.

It takes a lot to scrap an airliner unless it is within a year or two of retirement anyway.

I was trying to make sense of that top photo, and then I realized that’s that the nose gear wedged between the fuselage and the engine.

Some JB weld and a magic eraser for the tire marks
, she’ll be back flying.
